Jan Frodeno is a German triathlete who will fi ght for medals in Beijing 2008. On his way to the next training camp in Bolzano/Italy we had the chance to talk to the charismatic 26-years old athlete.
SRAM: Hi Jan, what about your preparations for
19/08/2008?
Jan Frodeno: I feel great! I just came back from the
World Cup in Korea, where I reached the third place. The
competition went very well and I feel that I still have more
potential.
SRAM: How do you feel taking part in the Olympic Games
2008?
Jan Frodeno: Awesome! The participation at the games
is an exceptional event! My biggest dream ever comes true!
Sometimes I wake up at night because I am so excited about this
special day.
SRAM: What kind of bike are you riding in competitions
and at the Olympic Games?
Jan Frodeno: I ride a standard carbon road bike from
Felt, just like other road pros, but with aero handlebars. This
is not a special time trial bike. The routes are similar to a
criterium. A lot of curves, many accelerations. I am enthusiastic
about SRAM Red: super fast shifting and powerful brakes.
Depending on the course I choose between Standard 53/39 or
Compact 50/36. The looks of the new group are an extra
highlight…
SRAM: How much training do you put in during the
Olympic season?
Jan Frodeno: 15,000 km on the bike, 4,500 km running
and 1,200 km in the water.
Jan Frodeno: Then I am standing in my kitchen, trying out new things. I love to cook.
