Nice, my preparation #5
Photo par Raphaël Mentrel
Xtriathlon has been one of the official partners of the Ironman France-Nice 2008 for the third year. Raphael Mentrel, one of its editors, will participate, in June, to this huge event like more than 2,500 international athletes. We have thus decided to take advantage in this "ordinary" athlete preparation for all our usual readers, but also to all those, french and foreign, who do not know yet the route and constraints of this exceptionally huge Ironman. We'll propose, therefore, throughout these six months while we proceed with Raphael, a translation of his preparation in English, German, Spanish and Italian, so that you do not miss any episode of what may well be "your" preparation. " Here is the fifth step of the Raphael's preparation.
The end of the february month is also the end of the second
training cycle. A bit more volume, weeks were about 15 or 17
training hours, and especially more intensity.
Statement of these two first cycles : 70km swim, 1700km bike and
400km run.
The discipline where I am feeling best is cycling, good
sensations, and to put it in a nutshell, I am not too
bad.I come back to train with my last club on
sundays, the TCG of Royan, to have a bit more rythme and to
'hurt' me more often. This is cool and I like
training with the friends. Thanks to them for welcoming
me.
Concerning swimming, it is good too, even if I do not dare to do the 400m test to see my true level.
Running is more 'problematic' because, even if I have
good sensations, I do not run at the same speed as I had the
habit. But, I have run only 400km, and maybe it is a too early to
say anything.
Patience ! It will come !
The beginning of march will be an assimilation and
regeneration period. A real regenration week with a
little bit volume and after two weeks with more training will be
at the program. The season will start very soon.
I think that I will with a duathlon (5/30/5), St Maixent
l'Ecole. This is a very hard race, with very
selective courses. And there is more, the meteo is rarely good
and there is always too much wind.
About triathlon, I will go to the Half of Narbonne,
that is one month before Nice. I chose this race because of the
date, and because we swim in the sea. Because I am not so good at
this exercice, I thought a rehearsal in the conditions of THE
race will be nice. Then, I will certainly go
to the Short Distance of Saintes, 15 days before the
D-Day.
This event will give me some rythme before starting the
sharpening period. A tiny amount of races, but
it wil be intense and I will try to perform there.
Till then these dead lines, I am going to regenerate myself
and to swot my training program of the 12 last weeks
preparation.
Keep on training mate
See you soon.
